Nijo Sushi Bar and Grill Seattle

Posted by seattlenewbie on February 24, 2008

Went to Nijo Sushi Bar and Grill in downtown Seattle for happy hour on Friday.  It’s a pretty cool place on Spring street.  The happy hour prices are pretty good, most of the food was $3.00 and the beers were $3.00 as well.  I didn’t get a chance to actually eat much sushi except for the spicy tuna roll, and it was pretty good!

Some Helpful Seattle Links

Posted by seattlenewbie on February 20, 2008

My coworker gave me some helpful links and I thought I would pass them on to anyone that is planning on moving, has recently moved, or is thinking about moving to Seattle.  Mostly Traffic and news so far but will add more as I get them

Do I have to drink coffee?

Posted by seattlenewbie on February 20, 2008

Since I have been in Seattle I have felt the urge to start drinking coffee.  I don’t know if it’s peer pressure or what?  I have never really liked the taste of coffee, I think.  I mean I think I have tried it maybe like 4 times in my life.  My coworker says that you have to start with the coffees that have lots of milk and sugar and then eventually you will start to like it.  Is this actually a good thing? Why don’t I drink soda instead since I know I like it better?  They both have lots of calories and both probably aren’t that good for you.

Maybe it’s the cold weather and the nice feeling of holding a hot cup in you freezing hand.  One thing that I know is that I am a fan of the whole “coffee shop” thing.  I love just hanging out in coffee shops, especially if they have those really comfy chairs.  I love bringing my laptop and just hanging out and also people watching.  It kind of reminds me of being in university all over again.

Oh yeah, on my way to work I pass no less than 4 coffee shops on my 2 block walk from the station to my office.  Also there just happens to be a Starbucks in the lobby of my building!!

520 Bridge

Posted by seattlenewbie on February 19, 2008

I live on the “East Side” of Seattle just inside of the Bellevue line.  I take the 520 bridge anytime I need or want to go into Seattle.  One thing I have noticed is that the water always seems to be calm on one side and not as calm on the other side.  This has perplexed me for my entire time in Seattle, which is a whole 3 weeks now.  The 520 bridge is a low bridge and I am sure that has a little affect but I don’t think that’s the actual reason.  I have asked several people if they know why, and nobody has been able to answer this question.

If you know or know someone that might please let me (us) know!! It’s been killing me to find out!!

Welcome to Seattle

Posted by seattlenewbie on February 18, 2008

Welcome to Seattle is what was said to me as I got off the plane 2.5 weeks ago.  I am now officially a “Seattle Newbie”!! I had only visited here once before about 10 years ago but for some reason I knew I would like the city, and so far I do.  This blog will be where I talk about all the things that I experience here in my new home.  Look for pictures, restaurant reviews, stories, and anything else that comes to mind.  I also wouldn’t mind having some other Seattle Newbies as contributors to the blog so if you are in my shoes and like to blog, please let me know!ET Seattle Newbie
